For this Hongkong trip's summary I thought I put in this email that I've received and replied.

Subject: Hong Kong concert
Dear Jon:
After seeing tonight's (Sunday's) Ah-Mei show at Hong Kong's old Kai Tak
airport, just want to say it was a great night and my wife and I really
enjoyed it.
It must have been hot work for you guys, though. I'd be interested to
hear
what the "airport" is like as a venue from a performer's point of view.
(Celine Dion played there earlier this year, but we didn't go to that
one.)
Apart from the heat and the usual Hong Kong complaint of "ho daw yan" (hen
dou ren) whenever tens of thousands of people turn out for an event, I'd
have to say it was difficult to see the stage tonight, even from our
A-class
seats. That probably has more to do with the extremely flat layout of the
airport tarmac than anything else _ except we kept wishing the stage was
about two metres higher.
Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed the show, particularly the interlude
by
the backing vocalists, and later, the AV of Ah-Mei's mom. And everyone
where we were sitting seemed to enjoy the bit with Ah-Mei's captive man on
stage.
A quick question: How would you rate Hong Kong audiences _ are they
boring
and conservative? Recognising, of course, that Sunday's crowd was ordered
to stay in their seats and not stand up, presumably because of crowd
control
problems on the Friday night.
Finally, will there be any concerts in Australia? I'm only asking because
that's where I'm from.
Anyhow, read this at your leisure; don't feel compelled to reply; and keep
on doing all to the glory of God, our Father!

HI gavin,
Nice to hear from you again.....if I do recollect you wrote me an email not
so long ago.
It's a pity that I do not have your email with me...cause I changed
computers now and then heheh...
would have loved to meet you and your wife for dinner or something!
I went up to HK with my wife and 2 daughters...needless to say , they had a
great time shopping and for the kids, going to ocean park.
As for me it was great going up to HK with the kids after 28 days in China
without them.
Pertaining to the concert, I personally felt that Kai Tak airport is a great
venue for an open air concert cause we had no problems with sound. Playing
in a stadium can be a nightmare for our sound engineer (which happens to be an
aussie too!) as the sound would bounce back from the surroundings.
It's a pity that the promoters didn't handle the seating arrangements better
because I think they squeezed in too many people in that venue.
From the stage....we didn't get our usual high as the crowd was quite tame
compared to the one in Taipei or kaoshoung.....but I should say that the HK
crowd are a polite lot. Also the reminder not to stand up is a big damper in
these sorts of concerts ...what were they thinking of?
They should'nt have seats in there in the first place!!!! heheheh.....
I think that they are planning a tour in Australia and the US early next
year.....but I can't confirm this.
I'm glad that you and your wife enjoyed the concert.... like I said ....I
would love to meet you all up.
Maybe next time......but I'll have your email now in my address book!
Take care !
